Apprentice Positions Available

Apprentices participate in the preparation and installation of resinous and troweled floor systems. This is an entry level position where the team member will gain knowledge through on the job training with other members of the team. We seek an apprentice that is energetic, eager to learn and provides the highest level of customer service. 

Job Duties:

1.  Maintains a safe and professional work environment and ensures compliance with OSHA regulations


2.  Participates in a variety of daily tasks, including:

  • Reading the project folder and work instructions
  • Loading the correct materials and sundries for the project
  • Loading the correct equipment for the project
  • Grinding, shot blasting, sanding and vacuuming the floor
  • Repairing the substrate (i.e. measuring, mixing and troweling of repair materials)
  • Mixing and installing floor coatings using a drill, squeegee, roller and paint brushes, or other specialized tools
  • Cleaning and returning equipment to its proper location


3. Maintains excellent rapport with the client and teammates

Candidates:

  • Are able to attend a self-guided OSHA10 class and pass the course (or can demonstrate they already passed the course)
  • Are able to wear a respirator and pass a FIT test
  • Commit to a substance-free work environment
  • Possess experience in basic construction techniques (i.e. painting, carpentry)
  • Can demonstrate they paint comfortably using brushes and rollers
  • Can add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers and fractions to determine proper mix ratios, sometimes on the fly as the project progresses
  • Are able to work with chemicals, read and understand their data sheets, and follow application instructions
  • Maintain a valid Vermont Driver’s License with a clean driving record
  • Have reliable transportation to and from our workshop
  • Can memorize processes and procedures, and follow them
  • Communicate well with others verbally

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending and kneeling 
  • Ability to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environmental conditions
  • Ability to operate electrical equipment, including hand and stand up grinders, generators, drills, polishers and sanders
  • Ability to lift 50 lb. material bags
  • Daily travel from our workshop to project sites within Vermont and Northern New York
  • Overnight travel is sometimes required with adequate notice

Work Environment:

Work is performed on residential and commercial project sites. Some workshop activities are required (i.e. tool cleaning, tool repair, kitting materials for upcoming projects)
