Become an Apprentice

Apprentices participate in the preparation and installation of resinous and troweled floor systems. This entry-level role allows you to gain hands-on experience while learning from skilled team members. We are looking for apprentices who are energetic, eager to learn, and committed to providing top-level customer service.

JOB DUTIES

  1. Maintain a safe and professional work environment and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
  2. Participate in daily tasks, including: Reading project folders and work instructions Loading materials, sundries, and equipment for the project Grinding, shot blasting, sanding, and vacuuming floors Repairing substrates (measuring, mixing, troweling repair materials) Mixing and installing floor coatings using drills, squeegees, rollers, brushes, or other specialized tools Cleaning and returning equipment to its proper location
  3. Maintain excellent rapport with clients and teammates

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • OSHA10 course completion (or proof of prior completion)
  • Respirator FIT test capable
  • Substance-free work environment commitment
  • Basic construction experience (painting, carpentry)
  • Comfortable painting with brushes and rollers
  • Ability to perform mix ratio calculations on the fly
  • Ability to work with chemicals safely and follow data sheets
  • Valid Vermont Driver’s License and reliable transportation
  • Strong memorization and procedural skills
  • Clear verbal communication

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Prolonged standing, bending, kneeling
  • Indoor and outdoor work in varying conditions
  • Operate grinders, generators, drills, polishers, sanders
  • Lift up to 50 lb. material bags
  • Travel daily to project sites within Vermont and Northern New York
  • Occasional overnight travel with notice

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed on residential and commercial project sites. Some workshop activities include tool cleaning, repairs, and preparing materials for upcoming projects.
